Desert honey myrtle or inland tea tree

Melaleuca glomerata

Family: Myrtaceae

Bushy shrub with white papery bark and clusters of cream to light yellow flowers which appear in September.

Prefers situations where it will receive extra water, such as near creeklines or rivers, salt lakes, clay pans or waterholes.

Scattered across the southern Northern Territory, Pilbara and mid Western Australia coast. There are also small populations in South Australia and New South Wales.

Where to find this plant at Alice Springs Desert Park

Common throughout the Desert Rivers habitat particularly outside the walk-through aviary and in Sand Country near the salt and gypsum pans.
