Triodia basedowii
Family: Poaceae
A compact perennial hummock-forming grass commonly forming rings as the plant grows by spreading out from the centre while the central section dies off. This leaves a circular pattern of living plant material. The plant can spread out 2 to 3m.
The foliage is bluish-green, hard and sharply pointed, reaching a height of 30cm. The flower and seed heads rise above the leaves to a height of 60 to 70cm.
Can dominate sand dune and sand plain landscapes such as the area around Yulara, often in conjunction with desert oaks or mulga.
