Silver cassia

Silver cassia

Senna artemisioides nothossp. artemisioides

Family: Fabaceae subfam. Caesalpinioideae

Attractive, fast growing bushy shrub to 2m in height. Produces an abundance of bright yellow flowers through the cooler months. Silver cassia has fine silver coloured leaflets.

Excellent choice for the home garden as it is drought tolerant once established and tolerates a wide range of soil types. Prune after flowering to maintain a compact shape and promote good flowering the following year.

Propagated easily from seed - soak overnight in boiling water first, then sow into a small pot.

This plant is highly adaptable and can be found in all states and territories of Australia across a huge range.

Where to find this plant at Alice Springs Desert Park

Very common throughout the Desert Rivers and Woodland habitats. This plant can also be found in the car park area and visitor centre courtyard.
