Rhodanthe floribunda
Family: Asteraceae
Spreading or rounded annual herb which can reach 40cm in height and up to 1m wide. The white outer petals are actually papery bracts (modified leaves) and the true flowers are the yellow central part.
They commonly appear after winter or spring rains. Found in a variety of soil types including rocky and gravelly areas. They like to grow in woodland areas in places such as Owen Springs Reserve and near Erldunda.
Where to find this plant at Alice Springs Desert Park
These small plants are flowering prolifically in the woodland habitat. They can also be found growing throughout the non-irrigated areas of the park.
