The Alice Springs Desert Park offers a number of vocational work experience positions in the fields of animal keeping and horticulture. These positions are of one week’s duration and are open to Year 10 and 11 students. Students will be assigned to one division within the Desert Park for one week. Students need to have their own insurance.
The park divisions are:
- Reptiles and Amphibians
- Australian Mammals
- Landscaping
- Nursery
- Birds.
Tertiary work experience
Tertiary work experience is designed for students who need to complete a practical component in order to fulfil their course requirements. Students have to arrange their own insurance and accommodation in order to undertake the placement. Timing is flexible but each division can only accommodate one student at a time.
